Nundle - 06 June - 08 June 2026

On Saturday 6th June, Geoffrey and Clarissa met up with 5 other cars at Scone and headed to Nundle via Gundy, Timor and Crawney. The group stopped at Nundle for lunch and a visit to the local shops, inclucing the historic Nundle Woollen Mill, before heading up to Ponderosa Park to set up camp. With temperatures dropping to -2ºC overnight, the campers woke to frost and puddles frozen over.

After checking out Hanging Rock Cemetery, Hanging Rock Lookout and Sheba Dam, the group made their way into Nundle State Forest for 4WDing where they found plenty of mud to traverse through. Thankfully, training kicked in and everybody made it through without any need for recovery. Logging in the area found many tracks closed to public so after multiple plan changes they went in search of an old gold mine, navigating barely there tracks before heading back to camp. Sitting around a roaring campfire, our clubs resident camp oven expert showed off their skills with a new dessert.

Monday arrived mildly warmer and everyone packed up for the drive home. Making their way down Barry Way across the 20 Creek Crossings track everyone commented on how beautiful the area was and how much fun was had by all.
