Bush First Aid course

Members recently completed a bush first aid course, which was conducted at our leased property.

Members gained a lot from the hands on training, which was especially tailored to the kinds of situations we might come across in the bush.

Thanks to Sue Wells, who did an excellent job as trainer and Jackie Robinson for organising the weekend.

Bendethera and Deua Valley Trip

Our club members had a ball at Bendethera over Easter. The iconic Merricumbene track was open for the first time in over a year and although participants had to drive the track and turn around due to the Deua River crossing at Dry Creek being closed – that just added to the fun! All the crossings in and out of the river were higher than usual due to recent rains and the valley was looking beautiful.

Woko and the Barringtons August 2019

Here are some photos from our recent trip to Woko via the Barringtons. What a difference a drought makes.

Xmas in July

Another fantastic Xmas in July in the Watagans. Here are some photos from the festivities.

A huge campfire kept us all warm
Kids learning to light a fire using a flint
Boiling billies to make their own hot chocolate

Our inaugural “long table”dinner

Our Dungog property was the venue for our first “long table” dinner recently.   Participants were asked to wear their best formal dinner attire and share a main course or dessert.  The table was decorated with fairy lights and gold candles. The results were just gorgeous and a great evening was had by all.

Another great Xmas in July

Our annual Xmas in July in the Watagans was a lot of fun, with club members enjoying some trips of varying difficulty and activities for young and old – including a “Treasure Hunt with a twist” Damper making, s’mores making and dress up competitions.

Annual Camp Quality Family Fun Day

Our club participated in the Annual Camp Quality fun day at Stockton Beach again this year. This day out gives sick kids a chance to have a ride in a four wheel drive over the sand dunes, do some “dune surfing” and enjoy the sunshine. This year, some of our members club took on sausage sizzling duties, while others provided rides for the kids.

Fun in the Victorian High Country

A group of 9 vehicles enjoyed a great trip to the Victorian High Country over the new year.

The trip started in the east of the high country, climbing Mt Pinibar, Mt Gibbo and Mt Anderson, then heading gradually west and south through Omeo, Dargo, Collins Flat, Talbotville and the stunning Wonnangatta Valley.

Then onto the high mountains around King Billy, Bluff Hut, Craigs Hut and finally – Lake Cobbler.

The tracks were challenging, the weather was perfect, the rivers were cool and inviting and the scenery was magnificent – making for a great trip for adults and kids alike.
