Watagan’s Day Trip – 18 Feb 2023

Great day out in the Watagan’s National Park hosted by Ray. 9 cars made the adventure with some new members and first time 4wders. I don’t think they were disappointed in the selection and variation of tracks. Beautiful sunny weather with 33 degrees top temp for the day. Thanks Pete our president for the report and pictures:

Victorian High Country Dec 2022/Jan 2023

29 participants in 14 vehicles enjoyed challenging 4-wheel driving, stunning scenery and mostly great weather for 10 days , base camping at Talbotville in the Grant Historic Area near Dargo.

Iconic tracks such as Blue Rag Range and Billy Goats Bluff were tackled. There were many water crossings across the Crooked River and Wonnangatta Rivers – 24 crossings in one track alone. We travelled local tracks such as Bulltown Spur, Conways and Randall tracks. Explored the Grant Historic area and cemetery and lunched at the famous Dargo Hotel. We spent a day travelling back country to Omeo and another venturing to the remote Wonnangatta Valley

Christmas Party fun 2022

Our Christmas party was a lot of fun again this year and we had great weather too. All the traditional activities were back, including the waterslide, flying fox, Santa & elves arriving on a fire truck and delicious & plentiful food for all.

15 October Settlers Road Adventure

8 members and 3 guests got a bit more adventure than they expected on this action-packed day trip in Yengo NP. After departing Wollombi and visiting the historic home of Edward Payne they encountered landslides and fallen trees on the track. They practiced track building, rock shifting and tree removal but with great teamwork made it to Putty Road and then back along Howes Track in time to see the sunset from Finchley Lookout.

9-11 September Sandbar Social weekend

About 20 members in 11 vehicles and associated vans and trailers had a relaxing weekend on the shores of Smith Lake on the mid north coast. Some of the more energetic aired down for the short drive along the beach to the lake inlet. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t the best for swimming but a good time was had by all – Thanks to Jack Robinson for organising,

Bush First Aid course

Members recently completed a bush first aid course, which was conducted at our leased property.

Members gained a lot from the hands on training, which was especially tailored to the kinds of situations we might come across in the bush.

Thanks to Sue Wells, who did an excellent job as trainer and Jackie Robinson for organising the weekend.

Christmas in July at Casuarina

Sadly, this was a bit of a fizzer this year due to the cold and very wet weather. The dozen or so members who did brave the elements enjoyed a warm campfire at night and a fun 4WD trip  to Laguna via the track on the western side of the Watagan Forest on muddy wet fire trails, followed by a yummy lunch at the Trading Post and returning the same way.
